    There4U Profile

There4U is an independent information service run by myself, I am employed as 'Patient Information Officer' for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and is based in Reading, Berkshire, England. The service was set up in 2000 under the name 'Patient Information Network' to provide information for patients (Service Users) at Fair Mile Hospital, Cholsey, Oxfordshire.

The hospital cared for people with mental health & learning disabilities within Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Fair Mile was a lovely collection of old buildings set in acres of peaceful grounds with its own cricket pavilion which was used by the adjoining village during the season. Most of the wards had wonderful views over the River Thames and the valley beyond.

I like many staff and patients was very sad to see the closure in 2003 when we moved to a purpose built hospital in Reading. Prospect Park the new hospital even though practical just doesn't have the same feel!

After moving to Prospect Park Hospital I decided it was time to take PIN further by launching a website that could be accessed by the general public, patients and professionals within Berkshire and the surrounding area.

The site was very successful, but in January 2009 I decided to re-brand as 'There4U' with the aim to support a wider community with health & well-being information from across England. We try to work in unison with other organisations to bring reliable information and support the anti-stigma campaigns like 'Time To Change'. We also provide space and advertising for other small non profit organisations so that they can get their voices heard.

We are presently self funding but this doesn't mean we are not successful, we presently receive approximately 20,000 hits per month. While your here take a look and see how many guests are viewing this site at the moment, you can find the 'Who's Online' section at the bottom of the left menu.

We are always pleased to see visitors from the UK, but are delighted to see so many of you are from America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and even China. To all our foreign visitors 'Thank You' but please remember the health legislation in your country is different to the UK.

Well I hope you find There4U useful and enjoyable! We are always open to comments or criticism so feel free to send us a message at j This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
